Team India’s opener Shubman Gill has tested positive for dengue. India will play its first match in World Cup 2023 against Australia on Sunday i.e. October 8 in Chennai. Gill’s playing in this match is doubtful. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma can open in Gill’s absence.
According to the report, Gill also did not participate in the team’s net session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday. Gill will have his second test on Friday i.e. today, after which a decision will be taken about playing.

A BCCI source told PTI, ‘Shubman has high fever since reaching Chennai. It is being tested. He will undergo further tests on Friday and a decision will be taken on his playing in the opening match. The source said, it has been learned that Gill is being tested for dengue and hence he will not be able to play some matches.
